Obama Slaps Down Swing-State Voters

  On Wednesday, President Obama officially announced that he supports same- sex marriage. His announcement come one day after the people of North Carolina voted overwhelming to approve a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and civil unions, by 61% to 39%. Obviously, this is terrible politics by Obama has North Carolina is sure to be a very important state if he wants to win re-election in November. But did he have a choice? On “Meet the Press” on Sunday Vice President Joe Biden all but backed the President into a corner by stating that he , himself had evolved into supporting gays to marry and he felt like the President had done the same. Social Conservatism Remains Key in Mississippi

  This is not an endorsement of any particular campaign or candidate, but I do feel compelled to make an observation on last week’s GOP primary for president. Based on exit polling conducted for The Associated Press by Edison Research, among those who said that a candidate being a “true conservative” was the most important trait in making up their minds, Rick Santorum defeated the second-place finisher, Newt Gingrich, 52 percent to 34 percent.  And among Mississippians who indicated that a “strong moral character” was the most important factor in choosing their candidate, Santorum soundly defeated all of his rivals.  Simply put, he won because he was perceived to be a social conservative and man of character. Why Social Concerns Matter on Super Tuesday

  Today, voters in 10 states will head to the voting booth to make their choice for the Republican nominee, who they believe with eventually defeat Obama in November. 419 delegates are on the line with the biggest states being, swing state, Ohio and Georgia. Many voters are going to the polls with a list of priorities on the person they will choose. Some choose the man that they feel has the best chance to win in November. Others are looking for the candidate that can fix the economy and create job growth. But there are a few that care about the social issues of today and make that top on their priority list.
